There are several things to consider while you are involved in your job hunt. Job hunting can be a traumatic process however preparing correctly will make the process more enjoyable.

Setting goals

The most important part of finding a satisfying job is to know what your goals are and what you are looking for. Set your goals and strive to fulfil them.  Once you have a goal in sight your base for action is set.

Goals in action

There are several actions that will make your search for your new job into a pleasurable experience and allow you to reach your goals. The most critical actions include:

  • Define the companies you’d like to work for, based on your skills
  • Research those companies so you have a good idea of what they do
  • Network with people you may know working at these companies
  • Network via social media on sites like LinkedIn
  • Update your CV
  • Register and meet with a recruitment agency

Going for the interview

Make sure you are well prepared for your interviews:

  • Dress correctly and exhibit appropriate body language
  • Ensure you are comfortable with your responses, especially aware of what your strengths and weakness are
  • Know what questions you would like to ask about the company, based on your research
  • Ensure you focus on what you can “do for the company” during the interview
  • Always send a “Thank You” note to your interviewer expressing your appreciation for their time

Have a fruitful and successful job search and all the best for the future.
